World Day Consecrated Life
God blessed us with a sunny dry day between two storms for our Providence Diocesan celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life.
We had a wonderful turnout! There were about 70 Women Religious representing 19 different Congregations (not counting the Sisters from the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary assisted living community at Fruit Hill). There were also 20 Religious Men from 5 communities. Three Consecrated Women from Regnum Christi and one Consecrated Virgin also joined us.
The hospitality at the FMM’s was excellent and the meal was delicious as usual. Sr. Dorothy Schwarz, SSD, gave a wonderful talk based on the three objectives for this special year;
to make grateful remembrance of the past,
to live our present with passion and
to embrace the future with hope, deepening our trust in the Lord.
This was followed by a prayerful vesper service presided over by Bishop Evans and enhanced by music and singing with students from the LaSalle Academy choir.
Sr. Jackie Dickey, gave the reflection at the vesper service.
Sr. Jackie Dickey said “As we go forward we hope to continue this year in prayer, reflection and celebration. We also wish to reach out to the clergy and laity of the Church as we share the joy of our vocation with them.”
“We hope that many of our communities will respond to the invitation that we gave to invite groups of laity into your homes to share prayer, refreshments and conversation with you.”
Sr. Jackie Dickey, , Director Office for Religious, welcomed all who attended the Celebration for the World Day for Consecrated Life.
